We’re all familiar with toothaches, that pain- either constant or sporadic- that you feel in your teeth or in your jaw. What’s not always obvious is why we have one or what we should do about it. Usually, a toothache can be traced back to a dental cavity, a tooth that is broken or cracked, an exposed root, or periodontal (gum) disease. Jaw problems such as TMJ disorder or muscle spasms can also cause us to feel as if we have a toothache. The most important thing to remember is that if you have a toothache, you should not wait for it go away because it very likely will not. When you are experiencing a toothache, call our

Traumatic injuries are dental emergencies where because of injury or accident, a tooth or teeth have been dislodged or even completely knocked from your mouth. It is essential to get dental attention immediately in such instances. Our Chaplin general dentist will evaluate the situation. If the injury is not severe, Dr. Longobardi may be able to simply push the tooth back into the socket. When the injury is more complicated, a root canal may be necessary. In the time between calling our office and getting to see our dentist, you should try to put a tooth back into its socket if possible. Otherwise, you should put the tooth into a container filled with milk or water with a pinch of salt. This will keep the tooth moist until our
Chaplin general dentist can treat you. With prompt action, teeth can often be saved.
